I cast the talented Ange Arabatzis in a lead role for the aforementioned production of the multimedia performance “Dirty Pictures,” which ran at La Mama Courthouse in Melbourne this past April of 2016. During his tenure in this production, Ange was not only disciplined and punctual in his response to an extremely intensive rehearsal period, he was also committed to creating a memorable character, and he was a pleasure to direct. He revealed a depth of understanding relating to the actor's process, while simultaneously remaining accessible to the needs of others; thereby making him a valuable and crucial ensemble member. He sustained this disciplined and hard-working approach throughout the successful, two-week run of “Dirty Pictures.”

Ange is fearless. He is also a generous, practical, and a humble team player. He took my direction beautifully, and showcased nothing but discipline, professionalism, and respect. He is 110% dedicated: each of his performances as Danny varied subtly, adding to the growth and ambiguity of the character. This is the marker of a great actor. He understands the stage, he understands his audience (which changes constantly), and he is able –like a chameleon– to adapt to them and their reactions. This unique grasp that Ange has, undoubtedly, is what provided the character depth for Danny, and which is why the play was so incredibly successful. This success is directly due to Ange’s exceptional talent.
